Hi, my name is John Wilson. I left school at 16 years old with ‘O’ levels and Highers but didn’t pursue my education as I wanted to concentrate my time on volunteer pastoral work while working part time as a cleaner. As the years went by I fell in love and got married and needed to expand my income so I worked on building my cleaning business to the point where it now supports me financially.
I suppose I felt the need to do something more fulfilling with my working life and so I started a Psychology degree with the Open University and an ‘Introduction to Counselling’ course at Stevenson College in Edinburgh while training and working with Parentline Scotland. Circumstances meant that I was not able to pursue both fields as I had planned so I only completed two years with the OU and went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Just before entering the diploma I trained with Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland and have worked with people who have been bereaved since then. On finishing the Diploma I completed a course in Online Therapy focusing on text based relationships and I am now currently enrolled in the Masters course at Strathclyde University where I hope to complete a research project.
I continue to run my contract cleaning business while offering my time as a volunteer to Cruse. With the launch of this website I am beginning to offer private face to face therapy from my office in Centrex House, Livingston, and text based therapy in the form of email correspondence, live chat using msn and text messaging via mobile phone.
